• Xpring Sponsors BlockSprint Hackathon with UCL

  • Xpring recently sponsored the University College London (UCL) Block Sprint Hackathon, a two week hackathon made up of over 100 developers from UCL, Oxford, Cambridge, King’s College, Imperial College, et al, combined with working professionals from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Nomura, BNP, Commerzbank and others.

    Altogether, 26 teams applied to win over £100K in prizes for building financial applications targeting real-world use cases across payments, lending, bonds, derivatives and identity. Over the course of two weeks, teams received mentorship and support from over 60 people among UCL, Ripple and other networks.

    The top 8 teams advanced through a series of judging to the final demo day.

    Team Vivid won the judge’s overall prize for their on-demand streaming micro-payments solution.

    Team SpringBlock Labs won the “Fast as Lightning” Award for building a cryptocurrency arbitrage platform that was nearly ready to deploy.

    Team CareChain won the “Eureka Prize” for their idea utilizing distributed ledger technology within the UK’s National Health Service to improve payments reconciliation.

    Team Turintech AI won the Liquidity Challenge posed by Ripple.
